This is the questionable part.

Cancer seems to actually be unrelated to the other degenerative diseases (ie
heart disease, diabetes, etc.). Some of the treatments for cancer work by
blocking normal cell growth mechanisms to prevent the cancerous cells from
growing.

The ancient Egyptians ate very little fat, no refined carbohydrates, and a diet
consisting of whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables and fish and fowl. It
was the ideal health food store diet prescribed by nutritionists and
cardiologists today. But they were obese, their arteries were clogged with
chlorestorol-laden deposits that were often hardened, they had high blood
pressure and heart attacks, and they had rotten teeth and gum disease - all of
this often at an early age.

Drs Eades comment: " Interestingly, cancer was virtually nonexistent in ancient
populations of both hunter-gatherers and agriculturalists, so diet may not be a
major factor in cancer development. But remember that both protein and fat are
crucial for a strong immune system - your first defense against cancer. There's
a stronger case for heavy metal toxins as a cancer cause, the tissues of modern
man have 10 times more lead than is found in ancient tissues, for instance."
(from page 400 of "Protein Power").
