You're probably not eating enough during the day so by nightfall you're
running on a deficit. If you don't meet your calorie needs during the day,
that hunger will be there at night.

To avoid late night cravings and eating, you could fast after dinner,
allowing at least 3 hours after eating before going to bed. If you fast 12
hours between dinner and breakfast, you will likely have a much larger
appetite for breakfast. Then, you can eat a larger breakfast, larger lunch,
and a larger afternoon snack, and have an early supper.

You may need larger portions of meat, fish, fowl, vegetables (more cooked
root vegetables, maybe some squash or sweet potato), fruits, and nuts. Many
people undereat when they switch from a diet of high calorie density foods
(fast, processed, fried, and petrified foods) to a diet of lower calorie
density food (meats and vegetables).
