I found this recipe in the local paper recently. I tried it when I
needed to take something to my daughter's playgroup. The molasses at
least adds a little iron and calcium :-) They are very crisp and keep
well. Next time I might add more of the spices, especially ginger.

Kathy

Gingersnaps

1 1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. molasses (I used a dark)
2 tsp soda
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp cloves
2 tsp ginger
4 c. flour

Preheat oven to 375F. Mix ingredients in order given. Roll dough in
small balls and roll in granulated sugar. Bake on greased cookie sheet
for 10-12 minutes. Makes 8 1/2 doz.
