Ebrima,
I think you should stay right here and keep on doing what you've been doing so well: providing an outlet for sources back home so that we on the outside do not only depend on newspaper reports that are dubious sometimes.
Isn't it typical of us Gambians that we are only interested in what sounds nice and decadent. If people are interested in the information that you spend so much of your time to provide for us, but would not be interested to hear about any pain and suffering that are a direct outcome of those efforts, it says a lot about us!. The fact that you did not write the 'Observer' story is not in doubt. What you did was to forward a mail from a source with a few comments where you pointed out your personal respect for the person Ebou Taal and if you are attacked and insulted 'privately' then it is a concern for me because you are doing what you are doing for me. It should be my business that you suffer and take risks in order to keep me abreast of what's going on on the ground in The Gambia.
Even if I felt that it was wrong for you to forward those two mails from the Taal family, I would have guaged that wrong against all the good you've done not only since April 10th, but well before that. We must learn to show solidarity with those whom we are on the same side with in this struggle to remove Devil Jammeh. Matarr Sajaw sent you private mail which unfortunately ended up on the L. I believe that for the benefit of our struggle, that should have been the way to go for anyone who has objections about those two mails and is sincere about keeping an impregnable front angainst devil Jammeh. Solidarity is the key word here: You suffer for me, I feel with you.
Regards,
Kabir.
