Evian,

I kne you were lurking around the corner. Thank you for bringing Wiki's definition of Profanity. Now I want to task you to make that or some permutation of it to be Ellen's dfinition of profanity. I encourage you to work with Dr. Jaiteh and Ellen's host on that. That is your homework. What an idiot?? And I thought he was Musling???? or Harunamo. Haruna. And its not Haruiner. That is profane.

Subject: Profanity: Defined

Haruiner reminded us thus: What we forget is to define Profanity.
Wikipedia steps in...............................
Profanity
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The original meaning of the adjective profane (Latin: "in front of", "outside the temple") referred to items not belonging to the church, e.g. "The fort is the oldest profane building in the town, but the local monastery is older, and is the oldest sacred building," or "besides designing churches, he also designed many profane buildings".

As a result, "profane" and "profanity" has therefore come to describe a word, expression, gesture, or other social behavior which is socially constructed or interpreted as insulting, rude, vulgar, desecrating, or showing disrespect.[1]

Other words commonly used to describe profane language or its use include: cuss, curse, derogatory language, swearing, expletive, oath, bad word, dirty word, strong language, irreverent language, obscene language, choice words,20blasphemous language, foul language, and bad language. In many cultures it is less profane for an adult to curse than it is for a child, who may be reprimanded for cursing.

Profanity my big beautiful black arse. What we forget is to define Profanity. I guess that's where the clueless idiocy lies.

Haruna.

Thank you Mboge.
And if I might add, the G-L rules are pretty succinct when it comes to the issue of profanity.

Anty Jabou,

Keep up the spirit.  You are one formidable human being i admire yo
u.  Justice a la this certain manager you talking to is slow when it comes to some, to others it is swift.  I can remember being delisted for describing Jammeh with a very insignificant word (I make no apologies for using this word and will it use it anytime i feel like it and mark you this word is far milder than what i have seen here).  And this was done without even cautioning, or perhap s i am just simply annoying to this manager.  Talking about 'exploring all means to settle conflict, i think not.  Thanks to the uneven dispensation of so-call justice Gambi-L style, the popular GAMBIA POST was born.

Best,

Mboge

Malanding,

Thank you.
I am glad to know that the wheels of justice are turning albeit slowly.
If we have a set up that mirrors Jammeh's kingdom, we would have lost the moral authority to say anything to him.

Sister Jabou,
While the wheels of justice may be exceedingly slow on the L, I will
assure you that it hasn't completely come to a halt. I am still waiting
on other members of the Management Team for their response before
submitting a final response.

Over the years, my position on conflict resolution on the L=2
0has evolved
to first exploring all means of settling disputes off-line before taking
it up on the L. This is due to a couple of reasons. 1) the very
=0 A complicated set of rules and procedures governing complaint resolution
we developed many years ago requiring timely participation of all
members of the management team (some of whom) are not responsive, and 2)
that G-L should be and is a place for mature and descent=2 0people who are
guided by a good sense of camaraderie even when debating highly
contested political topics. I can say our 15yrs record is testament of
the fact that all but a handful have been very responsible in the way
they handle themselves.

I know for a fact that you have particularly suffered more than any
other member when it comes to personal attacks and insults. However, you
have demonstrated for us to see that it still possible to make ones
point without invectives and name calling. I hope Mr. Touray can and
all other members can learn from such grace.
