I am bringing you Sheik Omar Futi story, the Tijani legend who travels
across Africa, and at some points engaging in war. His life story narrated
in Mandingka by the late oral historian, Jali Bamba Suso. Bamba Suso was a
great asset in the oral history traditions. The life of Sheik Omar Futi
is shrouded in mystery. However, I hope the narrative will provide
listeners the context, many placed Shiek Omar Taal and how he is still
relevant to his disciples and those following his teachings.
The first part of the program is that of the Balanba kora story by the late
Lalo Kebba Drame, with his host, the late renown radio Gambian culturalist,
Alieu Darboe (RIP).
