BREAKING NEWS:MARABOUTS IMPLICATED IN ALLEGED FOILED COUP TO FACE GRTS'S MBOGE!!!
While the much talked about foiled coup storytelling continues to grip the nation, news just came in that certain Marabouts in The Gambia will give account about their own version of the abortive coup. The Freedom Newspaper was reliably informed that these Marabouts will appear before The Gambia Radio and Television Services today Wednesday at 6PM and give account about their role in the said foiled coup attempt purportedly directed against the administration of President Yahya Jammeh.

Roofing reporter Ousman Cham, in a news tip off sent to our news room said “Hi, Today, Wednesday 29th March 2006,marabouts will give account of their own version of the coup and how they contributed towards it. This will be featured obn both TV and Radio Gambia at 6pm.”
Names of Marabouts, lined up to testify before GRTS grand media trial are not yet forth coming, but sources say the state had claimed to have intercepted names of Marabouts whose role was to help the alleged coupists realized their plan to unseat Jammeh’s government. To many here in the country, the government is bent on playing with the intelligence of Gambians, but the alleged coup sounds like a day dreaming to them. The concerned Gambians told the Freedom Newspaper that the magnitude of people linked to the coup, seems to have discredited the government’s coup story while citing the military’s distrust of the civilians population.
“ For the military to stake a coup with Civilians beat our imagination. I think there is more to the story. These testimonies are raising more doubts into the minds of Gambian. Many here believed that the whole issue was pre-arraigned with the ultimate aim of deceiving Gambians. How can these military officers involved all these civilians in this coup without Jammeh’s NIA knowing it? That the coup which was purportedly cooked for several months was leaked by Lang Tombong Tamba of the Army? This is unbelievable. What is the purpose of having the NIA?” argued the concerned Gambian.
It is reported that Jammeh was claiming that there was total intelligence failure in the NIA and decided to change its Director General.
“What surprises many people here was Tamsir Jasseh’s claim that he approached a foreign diplomat on the border impasse even though he was not in government. That he Jasseh had the audacity to approach the said envoy without the NIA knowing. We think this is just a ploy to give credence to Yahya’s recent allegations against the government of President Wade.” said a local observer.
Meanwhile, many Gambians are keenly waiting to hear the testimonies of the said Marabouts lined up today to give their side of version on Tuesday’s alleged foiled coup.
