 Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim
In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful

 Hijri date: Saturday 27 Raby` al-THaany 1421 A.H.
SOUTHFIELD -- Local Islamic groups are urging a boycott of Northland Mall to
protest the fact that one of its retailers is selling gaudy stretch pants
covered with verses from the Koran.
The pink-and-yellow pants hang in the front of Hot Stuff 2, one of three
shops in the mall owned by Detroit businessman Michael York.
In a store filled with hotpants and halter tops, they might have attracted
little attention -- if Muslim shoppers hadn't realized that the pants were
covered with Arabic calligraphy copied from Islam's holiest book.
"In the name of God, most gracious, most merciful," reads the right pants
leg; the name of Allah covers the left thigh. Other verses from the Koran
run around the waist and cuffs of the jeans, manufactured by a company
 called Unity USA.

Southfield -- A store in Northland Mall has agreed to stop selling women's
jeans covered with verses from the Koran, a product that Muslim leaders
labeled blasphemous, mall officials said Wednesday. Michael York, owner of
Hot Stuff 2, agreed to no longer sell the jeans, fending off a threatened
 boycott by Arab-American shoppers.
