The problems are obvious!

The earlier approaches of let’s all vote for one didn’t and will not solve the problems. That’s what I wouldn’t join. I did my share of that already and moved-on!

Now it appears they (opposition parties) are coming to what I’ve advocate all these years - work together to institutionalize/establish democracy. That am ready to be a foot-soldier whenever and wherever.

Our opportunities are on the raise lately and I hope we can seize on them (1) Opposition recently came up with proposals & demands (2) The election route many sat on is now blocked with insurmountable fees.

Certainly no singular person/group can fix a national problem, hence we should be all ready to work towards a common good. Many times we defer whats a common good. To me one is not ‘VOTING FOR ONE/PARTY’ but INSTITUTING DEMOCRACY IS ONE.

Furthermore, I’ve never opposed the opposition parties leading that charge - they’re of course our most opportune vehicle. My argument has been the one way focus on election agenda which can never be a winner. The sooner that’s understood the better we will be.

I wrote a letter to all the Secretary General’s of the active parties and hope to follow up with phone calls by next week with a view to understand how they envision to proceed but also share my views. Remember similar write-up named Group of 6 didn’t go anywhere. Simply writing and/or saying something doesn’t do it

Join me to engage/motivate them into action - Infrastructure, processes and financing.

For me this is not about the opposition parties but The Gambia.

The opposition will present a concrete way forward and all citizens who disapprove of what is being done should find a way to work together.

The passed bill require a Presidential and National Assembly candidate placed a refundable deposit of D0.5m and D50K respectively to contest. Do the math how much it will cost a party that filed a candidate for president and 48 National Assembly seats. Essential besides APRC (that will use tax payer money to pay her deposits) no or most parties will not be able to meet this requirement. What then do they (we) do?

>> Let us engage and motivate the parties to come up with the necessary infrastructure and processes. Let us help finance that process. That will build the needed political leverage. That's the way to go. No doubt we are loosing the battle badly. Its time we begin to turn the tide!
