I wonder how many times do we hear ourselves, IF I HAVE A MILLION DALASI, I would do.....

Well let's say I have two billion five hundred million dalasis (D2,500,000,000). This is the equivalent of One hundred seventy-six million US dollars (US$176 million). According to reports this is the increase in Gambia's debt since Yahya Jammeh took charge in 1994.

As I said, if I have 2.5 billion dalasis I will donate:

700M to NAWEC (Our troubled electricity & power company)
300M (D1500 to each of 200,000 farmers)
250M (5 hospitals @ 50 million each)
250M (1000 km roads at D250000 per km)
150M (D15M/yr for 10yrs elementary education (teacher training and equipment)
150M (D15M/yr for 10 yrs on University education)
100M (5 yr salary increase (4000/yr for 5yr (5000 military & police)
100M (5 yr salary increase D1000/yr for 5yr (20000 civil servants))
10M (Build 10 Sen. Sec Schools (12 classrooms each) for D1,000,000)
30M (Build 20 jun sec Schools(12 classrooms each) @ D1,500,000)
30M (100 elementary schools @ D300,000)
50M (give D120000/yr for 10 years to each of the 50 National Assembly Members

That still leaves me enough to have:

100M personal savings account in New York
100M personal savings in a Swiss Banks
100M in one of the Caribbean Islands (just incase Europe and American are jealous of my personal wealth)

30M stashed under my many mattresses (just incase)
20M (D2M/yr for 10 yrs as gifts to Praise singers)
10M (D1/yr for 10 yrs travel expenses)
15M (5 mansions one in each division)

With these:

Every Gambian will feel my power and wealth
Few can travel, seek medical assistance, go to school or even breath the air without seeing or feeling presence in their lives
The Gambian army will go to war on my behalf
The police will not hesitate to defend my interest
Every civil servants will become my praise singer
The National Assembly will amend the constitution make Gambia my personal plantation
And I bet there will be heated debates on Gambia-l over how powerful I have become!
