The Imam Ratib of Banjul and the Committee of Banjul Muslim Elders have
written to the Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr
Yahya Jammeh, acknowledging receipt with immense gratitude, the donation of
four bulls for the community in the preparation of this year’s Mawlud Nabi
(Gamo).

The message reads:
I am directed by the Imam Ratib of Banjul and the Committee of Banjul Muslim
Elders to acknowledge receipt with immense gratitude the donation of four
bulls for Banjul Muslim Community in the preparation of this year’s Mawlud
Nabi (Gamo). Your boundless generosity is a familiar feature of your
leadership, and we on behalf of the Banjul Ummah, express our deepest
appreciation for your gift which greatly helped us in our preparations for
the thanksgiving celebrations of the birth of our Holy Prophet, the seal of
Prophets, May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

On the occasion of Mawlud Nabi, we express our heartfelt, joy, and extend a
hand of affection, gratitude and goodwill, to you Mr. President, renewing
our prayers, on this auspicious occasion, for you and your family, that
Allah continue to bless you with gifts of good health, happiness and long
life. Mawlud Nabi is worthy of our pious attention, for we must rejoice and
thank Allah for the favour of sending the Holy Prophet as a mercy to all
mankind. “That light was all submersed in light, in the night of Muhammed’s
birth”. That light was the beacon light of Allah’s favour of illuminating
the world for mankind, and it is important that we acknowledge the gift with
open heart and joy.

On this propitious day, Mr. President, we offer our special prayers for you,
your family, and the entire nation, that Allah continue to bestow his
mercies of peace, prosperity and good health on us all. May your generosity,
which you have brought up to the highest expression, be endlessly repaid,
and you continue to lead our dear mother country, with your usual vigour,
foresight and care. Once again, we thank you inordinately.
