Dear LJD,

Thanks. I look forward to your own petition. I still have the one you wrote a while back.

Though I don't have their individual e-mails, I am connected to some of their party militants and I can certainly get these e-mails for you.

Much appreciated..

Yero

YJ

Thanks for your thoughts, and I am happy to engage the party leaders if you have email contacts for them

Please assist with emails if you do

Remember to forward Ansu's petition to the leaders

Coach,

You made great observations on your contribution to this thread, matter of fact you wholly spoke for me. When I spoke with them earlier, they were all appreciative of my call. I still join you, Demba, Ansu, Bayang and the rest to encourage people to participate. Our way of participation should not be limited to the forums only, but calling and engaging those that matter as you suggested.

On my dear Joe and LJD, I totally understand their frustration and standpoint. What will I do with Joe? For us to call these folks is to remind them that we are part of this great equation. Clearly, as long as your call is positive, you must never get tired to make that call. It is not to beg them in any way. Also, if my "begging" will unite them, I am happy to honestly do that at this point in my life. That would be much easier for me to deal with than having to deal with more Gambians getting hurt by the same person, over and over.

Anyway, I am the least capable to handle this lecture. I only hope we all take charge of what is happening home. We must not abandon things in anyway despite whatever frustration we may encounter. In America, it is very common to engage your representatives. William E. Hudson in his book, “American Democracy in Peril" championed engaging society and one’s representatives. Despite being sharply critical of the constitution and America’s founding fathers, his discussion on the eight challenges to America’s Democracy will certainly work for the Gambia as well. I have seen how American citizens respond to situations without giving up, and I think it is applicable in our situation.

Anyway, I thank you all for your great inputs, especially those that called and continue to do these phone calls.

Regards,
Yero

LJ,
You must have interpreted what I wrote wrongly. I have never and will never have an aversion to analysis. What I was trying to state categorically is that those who have ideas about what a coalition should look like should direct those ideas to the players. Lamin, how many opposition leaders are on this forum? Chances are most of them do not read anything coming from this end.
What I believe calling Ousainou, Hamat, OJ , Halifa and the rest will do, is to give you the opportunity to tell them what you and think and to seek the necessary clarifications and to in fact challenge them on issues pertaining to the a possible coalition.
I spoke to Ousainou earlier today and he was appreciative of the call and ensured me that they will do everything to get it done. I didn’t have to beg him for I will never “beg” any public official to do what is expected of him/her. Of course I will never ask anybody to do anything in the name of a GOD or an ALLAH.
Finally, I will be the last person to stop you from telling the politicians what you think. That is your fundamental human and constitutional right and must not be curtailed.Pasamba Jow

Pasamba

You do not sound like the Pasamba whose passionate, analytic advocacy and conversations I used to enjoy on online radio shows.

Why this sudden aversion to "endless analysis"?.

Analysis is the lifeblood of a responsive polity, and dictators hate openness for just this very reason. I am resigned to the possibility of no united front for November 24, but come heaven or high water, this "current crop" of opposition leaders will hear from Gambians, and I would rather not articulate my views behind closed doors.

To each his own style!

Yero,
Thank you very much for this. Now that we have screamed for a meeting of the opposition, i will echo your call to all and sundry to call these people and encourage them to unite. The time for endless analysis is over for now. It is now the time for actions from both the opposition leaders and those interested in unseating Jammeh for the sake of the Gambia. I will be calling to appeal to them to unite for the sake of the Gambia and Gambia alone and nothing else, and would encourage others to do the same.

The Last Call

Happy belated Eid-ul fitr, ladies & gents!

As the opposition braces for a talk on Saturday September 3rd, we must not fold our hands and just watch opportunity slide by again. Please call our leaders back home and ask them to unite for the sake of Allah and the Gambia we all belong. It is certain that only a united front will unseat Jammeh. Please take the opportunity of what is happening to signal a strong message.
