Hello, Yero, while I am glad to see Halifa's quote that you posted above, and it's definitely a step in the right direction, let's see if he, as well as Darboe, can put their money where their mouth is and stop the good sounding talk and let's see if they can actually come together. Anyone can talk a good game but let's see if they can back it up. The time for talking and pontificating has long since past. And let's see if the supporters of the various parties can stop the online bickering and jabbing at the other parties for the sake of unity. At this point I don't care if Sallah supported the coup (many people did at the time if memory serves) or if Darboe is supposedly a coward (and being that he's not sought asylum anywhere else at this point and he's still in The Gambia while many of the people calling him a coward are comfortably situated far away from any harm from Jammeh), all I care about is bringing about a united opposition, and fielding a candidate that the Gambian people can get behind and vote for. And watching all of this bickering/in-fighting/back-and-forth between the various parties and their supporters is extremely demoralizing. And I have the luxury of turning away, focusing on another issue and just completely forgetting about The Gambia and leaving it to its own devices if I so chose. The Gambian people, both on the ground and in the diaspora, unfortunately don't have that luxury.
Ginny
