Amy,

Sounds like you also have a good handle on things. Letting your former BF 
do his thing, you concentrating on work and establishing an independent 
life of your own. You will do well no doubt. I would guess that even your 
relationship with your mom might change some to the better. Perhaps not, 
but having that independence and her seeing you as an adult child making 
your way through life gives a parent a different perspective of a child. 
Perhaps she is just involved in her own issues now but hopefully she's 
doing better of late.
