I am a celiac.
I am a woman.
I am a mother & grandmother.
I do NOT feel these things limit me -- they are a part of who I am.

I agree that the statement "THE celiac in bed 21A" is de-personalizing.

Sometimes we can be too sensitive, and take offense when none is intended.
Other times we must speak up and let someone know when they have offended.
Good judgment and tact will ease us through these situations.

Good health to all!
