Many celiacs report weight gain problems after being diagnosis as a celiac.
One good feature of this fact is that it shows that your villi are responding
and that the diagnosis was correct. Avoiding weight gain often be as hard as
finding a GF item to include in the diet.

Some points for everyone to consider.

1. Start or increase your excercise program. (This may not be applicable in
this case).
2. Change your eating habits. Try having your big meal each day at lunch.
The later that we eat at night contributes to weight gain.
3. Eat bulky foods (plain popcorn) for snacks instead of high calorie items.
Maybe even use extra glasses of water to fill your stomach and reduce your
desire to eat.
4. Recognize that your eating habits must change and attempt to change your
diet. Those who went undiagnosed for many years, now are faced with the
problems that what we eat is absorbed into our body instead of being
discarded.
5. Check your medication for possible side effects (weight gain). The
current issue of Prevention has a good article on some common medications that
can increase your weight or retention of water.
