If barley malt were used in Coke, it would have to appear in the
ingredients list.  If you look at a can of coke you will see
that there is no malt in it.
 
A letter dated June 19, 1995 from The Coca-Cola Company states:
"...I'm pleased to tell you that you can continue to enjoy all
products of our Company, as none of them contain gluten."  It
was signed by Karlyn Kauffmann, Consumer Affairs Specialist.
This includes many popular soft drinks, such as Coke, Sprite,
Minute Maid, and Mr. PiBB, plus the diet versions of these
drinks.
