First off, Congress is in recess until Nov. 12. A lameduck
session is to begin then, how long it will last is still
anybody's guest. So action on the legislation is not
imminent.

The The food labeling legislation has passed the key Senate
Committee but has yet to pass the Senate. The bill, S. 3001
(formerly S. 2499), would still have to clear the House.
Committee hearings have not been held on the bill in the
House.

I expect the bill to be re-introduced in the next
Congressional session (108th). If bipartisan support is
retained, and with our efforts, that bill will be able to
make it through the Congress and be enacted into law.
