With all due respect...

If the skin is not permeable, will someone please explain to me how
smoking cessation patches, birth control patches, estrogen patches,
insulin patches etc. etc. etc. work???????

Some celiacs (including my wife) have developed a systemic response
to gluten. In addition the classic G.I. symptoms, they can and do go
into anaphylactic shock and convulsions upon topical exposure to
trace amounts of gluten.

In 2001 she was seen by the University of Chicago Hospitals' Celiac
specialist Dr. Michael Sitrin, who advised that such a response is
uncommon but in the literature.

Please do not advise us that the anaphylaxis from topical absorbtion
is not a celiac response. The shock and convulsions are in ADDITION
to the gastrointestinal response triggered by topical exposure. We
have spent WAY to much time at the hospital because of this.
