Gluten Intolerance Group
Annual Education Conference
June 4, 5 & 6, 2004 (Friday - Sunday)
Double Tree Hotel - Lloyd Center
Portland, Oregon

A common disease with uncommon symptoms...Celiac disease (or gluten
intolerance) is an incurable, hereditary, auto immune disease that recent studies show
affect as many as 1 in 133 people in the United States. Is this a rare
disease? Hardly...1 in 133 equates to approximately 1.5 million people. Frequently
misdiagnosed, Celiac disease has a broad range of symptoms and no - typical -
symptoms. The symptoms of Celiac disease are triggered by the ingestion of
gluten, the protein found in wheat, rye, barley and perhaps oats.

The Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG) Annual Education Conference being held on
June 4, 5, & 6 at the Double Tree-Lloyd Center in beautiful Portland, OR,
promises to be full of new ideas and creative ways to cope with the gluten-free
diet.

There are three Conference Programs - Dietitian Program, Physician
(Clinician) Program and General Program.

The Dietitian and Clinician Programs are established to help dietitians,
nutritionists and other health care professionals interested in learning about
celiac disease and the gluten-free diet and also provide these professionals with
continuing education credits.

Prometheus Laboratories, Inc, San Diego, CA and Friends of Celiac Disease,
Inc, Milwaukee, IL have generously provided educational grants for the
professional healthcare programs.

The General Program is open to anyone that has an interest in knowing more
about celiac disease and gluten intolerance associated illnesses and diseases.
Attendees will receive cutting edge information, research updates, and network
with others in the celiac and gluten intolerance community.

There is a special Kids Day Camp Program where children from 5 through 17
will have fun, learn about celiac disease, do experiments, and trick-r-treat the
exhibitors.

All attendees will be able to explore exhibitors booths at a special Friday
evening reception and during breakfast, session breaks and lunch times Friday
and Saturday.

Participants will be able to go to a choice of three local restaurants for a
Friday Dining Out with Friends event. Has it been a while since you have had
fish and chips? You can have a great fish and chip dinner at the Friday Dining
Out with Friends event. But wait, this is so popular that it has already
filled. There is one restaurant still available and that is Old Wives Tales.

GIG will be - Celebrating 30 Years of Awareness and Support - at the Saturday
night Pennies From Heaven Banquet.

Exhibitors will include new gluten free companies with fabulous new products
and many of the old standbys that we have known for years.

How to register - go to www.gluten.net, click on Events and select the
Conference Program you have an interest in for full information on workshops and
rates. Complete the registration and return to GIG.

The conference will be held at the Double Tree Hotel - Lloyd Center and a
