Thanks to all who responded.

CAST IRON:
I have been convinced by the number of responses that it is prudent to get
rid of the cast iron, although a some seemed to have no reaction. One
respondent had just posed this question to someone at the Celiac Center at
Columbia who advised her to retire the pans. Those who were quite
sensitive to gluten noticed an improvement once they changed pans. I was
also advised to be cautions of woks and Teflon coated pans, and wooden
tools and boards which are porous.

EGGS:
I was concerned about feed dust settling on the eggs not that the chickens
ingesting gluten-containing feed. No one seemed to have problem with
eggs. I did get advice on what to feed my chickens! They do get lots
of fresh food and bugs in addition to their feed! I will continue to wash
the eggs.

About washing eggs: according to a few of my chicken books, it is best to
wash the eggs in water that is slightly warmer than the egg so as not to
force bacteria through the porous shell.
