As another Texan, I agree.   The evening of the Pres's
48-Hour Ultimatum speech, I e-mailed him a lengthy
(tho belated) letter, including:

"Mr. Bush, anticipating your upcoming announcement, I
am tonight not proud to be an American or a Texan.
You are not Marshall Will Kane, and this is not
Hadleyville; it is not yet High Noon.   You are
turning a super-power into a super-bully."

       It is a "good ol' boys club". The Senate,
especially has more monied
people than any other body. Also, The rich have more
to lose, money wise, than
most of us.
As for as the "conservative adminiistration, this
president has to be a
greater disappointment the William Jefferson Clinton
as that is saying a mouthful.
Like the Dixie Chicks, I am sorry to be from Texas
right now.
