I agree Ken, modeling, rewards, punishment--they're all part of raising a
child who has the tools to choose good behavior.

Yeah, she told me about the Spam.  I think I'd rather have the bbq that was
served up in "Fried Green Tomatoes", if you know what I mean.  Speaking of
bbq, you like yours Southern Style in a vinegar base or the other way with
BBQ sauce?

i believe modeling is part of displine. displine means training. the
physical punishment will not work without the modeling. i think that is
where many fall short. the "do as i say not as i do" is not a valid displine
method.

My wife and I just finished watching a videotape from PBS called "The
Children are Watching" about how parents unknowingly model behavior, good
and
bad, for their children. Modeling is much more important than discipline
because it takes place all the time and this is what the children are
watching.
