To clear out spam use these tricks:

First, most inboxes let you sort your email by subject, email address, size,
or date.

Sort by email addresses first.  You can tell your friends email addresses
right off the bat.

Sort by subject:  You can see if new addresses in your inbox are refering to
the same subject matter.

Sorting by size tells you if someone wants to send you an attached file.
Only open it if you know the email address and if you were given advance
warning an attachment was to be sent.

Also watch out for a new trick.  Some people are forging your own address
making you think you sent yourself an email.   That is a red flag to delete
the email.
