This 17 year old"was gagging a lot" and he died of "respiratory distress". Was
he eating by mouth? Or was he choking on his own saliva? Did the doctor rule
out aspiration pneumonia? I'm a dietitian and there are a lot of unanswered
questions here. It doesn't sound like a tubefeeding infection. Was the child
vomitting up tubefeeding formula? I think death being caused by the
tubefeeding is far-fetched. I have heard of brain injuried children dying of
respiratory distress though because their weakened bodies are unable to fight
off the infections that you and I can handle with ease.
