Virginia,

I can't gag on command without a stimulus, but I have found that I can
stimulate the reflex fairly easily .(which can be as simple as recalling a
noxious memory). Luckily (or not?) I didn't discover or develop this
"ability" until I was an adult, so I wasn't able to use it to get out of
unpleasant situations as a kid. If I could have, I would have never played
dodge ball or tried to climb a rope in gym. I've used it as an adult only
because I accidentally swallowed some gasoline as I was siphoning out an old
lawnmower, and didn't have any Ipecac handy, and had too much grease on my
hand... Sorry if that's too much detail.

I could also stimulate clonus in either leg as a kid by positioning (still
can), but it was more a "Wanna see the cool thing I can make my legs do?"

Kendall

An unreasonable man (but my wife says that's redundant!)

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one
persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress
depends on the unreasonable man.

-George Bernard Shaw 1856-1950
