Wednesday

Things in our neighborhood are very close to normal (most of the area
isn't), the yard crew mowed our yard yesterday. The neighbors next door
came over for dinner last night, Pat, and Dale. We reset the patio, eat
outside, it was a beautiful night out, thank goodness for this high
front that is over us this week. Pat works for Memorial Hermann
hospital, VP of patient relations. She told us that they have a patient
that was on Bolivar (across from Galveston) during the storm, they found
him in Trinity Bay, which is in the N.E. corner of Galveston Bay, 20-25
miles away. He has not been able to tell them much more. They also have
numerous people who are know crippled for life after running out and
buying a chainsaw. If you don't know how to use one, it's best to leave
them alone. The CO poisoned patients from generator use was up to 25. I
stopped by a church we built 7 years ago to check in on them. They have
had power since Sunday, and once again are a FEMA POD site. Of the
twenty five POD's promised to be up Sunday, they were one of the three
that actually got running. HEB foods showed up at 7:00AM, FEMA at
3:00PM, they claimed they couldn't find the place (we have these people
looking for Bin Laden?). We have had gas and diesel brought in from
Dallas (the local suppliers are swamped), it arrived last night, great
company, they called several times to report exactly where their truck
was, and to let us know when to be at the office to take delivery. A
friend called this morning on I-45 on his way to Dallas. He was at mile
marker 145, about halfway between Madisonville and Centerville, Texas he
said it was tore up, and there were lines at all of the service
stations, this would be 145 miles from where I-45 ends on the south end,
at the 61st turn off in Galveston. I have a 600 KW generator coming in
from Midland / Odessa for a customer up near the Woodlands so that we
can get them back to work, they figure a month to a month and a half
before they will have commercial power.

Ray Nagan has offered 50% off on hotel rooms in N.O. for people
displaced by the storm, N.O. really can't offer much, and I don't really
think it's needed anyway.

Still can't say enough about Mayor Bill White and the job he is doing,
he is a man Lee Iacocca would respect. His staff is doing a great job
also.

George, good you came, glad you left!

Jim,

Thanx for the update. I'll call off the dogs.

I get nervous when you call the dogs.
