In the case of the Schermerhorn Row counting houses, we found the party wall
anchors were installed during original construction - they are not "star"
anchors, but terminated in a "knuckle and pin" connection. They were attached
to the faces of the joists, and were spaced about every five joists. Any
facade "stars" were later modifications. Interestingly, at SR there were some
anchor straps that ran through the party wall, making joist-to-joist connections.
Bad practice for fire prevention.
