They were dumped into the New Jersey Meadowlands, just across the Hudson from
NYC. There was a recent article (Newark Star Ledger?) on a recent rediscovery
of many pieces of the remains -- column sections, portions of statuary, etc.
-- that had been lying around on the surface. A portion of one of four
massive statues ("Dawn", I think) was installed on the lawn at Skylands in
western NJ. I think they may have also found part of one of the others in the
recent discovery. There is some attempt to recover them and reinstall them
into the "new" Penn Station -- the old Post Office building just across the
street. I don't know how much they have actually found. You might check the
Star Ledger archives online
http://www.nj.com/archive/ (I think there is a charge for a 24-hour search
period, if it's not today's issue), or the NY Times archives online.
