A brief rustling from the dustbin of history (i.e., an email listserv once actively used prior to the advent of social media):

The AOL and YAHOO domains have had continuing problems with hijacked accounts sending spam. When the spam is sent to a listserv, it is distributed by the listserver to many multiples of list subscribers. The listserv domain @listserv.icors.org then gets blocked and banned among ISPs for sending spam email. This affects hundreds/thousands of email lists hosted by Listserv.

As a result, our benevolent overseers at ICORS have requested that all you YAHAOLES be put into a moderated status. This means that if you send an email to Bullamanka-Pinheads (an admittedly now rare occurrence), it won't appear immediately. It will have to be reviewed and approved by a list moderator (of whom there are few and who are likely not paying attention) to ensure that it is not a spam email from your hijacked account.

Other email domains are not affected. Your emails will go straight through to the list.

So don't worry if your YAHAOL email doesn't show up immediately. I'll get around to it shortly and send it along. If it's spam, I'll kindly let you know that your account has been hacked. If you want better listserv response, get another email provider. A word to the wise: the Microsoft domains are also problematic for listservs, but for other reasons: Hotmail, MSN, Live and Outlook.

Not that this matters very much since the list is moribund, but it seems a common courtesy to let those affected know what is happening.

Do not send the list a joke spam email (Ralph/Chris). That would be bad form. Very bad.
