overly thin sheets of glass relative to overall size especially when it
is in an insulated light (sealed double panes of glass) you can get a
strange looking "concavity" distortion. Lever House is not insulated and
they matched the original glass thickness so you won't get that
distortion. Also, as with many "cheap looking things" you can just tell
it when you see it. Many but not ALL cheap things suffer from poor
detailing, clunky elements, poor proportions, unsophisticated colors but
many do.

It is possible, I believe, to spot a cheap glass curtain wall - like the
one going up now at 86th and Lexington. Whereas Lever house seems much
nicer, more refined.
What is it that defines a cheap glass curtain wall? What are the
tell-tales?
