We've been using Simpson Strongdrive truss screws for years to attach braces
to frames that are going up or coming down. We used to use duplex nails but
they tend to beat up the 2x6 brace stock and they are prone to causing that
stomach dropping feeling when the hammer claw slips off 16 feet in the air.
The Strongdrives go in and out over and over and over without wearing out
and they're even excellent for extracting blind pegs. Just screw them in and
apply crowbar.
