All of this makes me really wish I had bought two TW1 SWR/watt meters when
they were available from  LDG a number of years ago.

I know the meters aren't the greatest, but they really do seem to serve as a
good tuning aid, in my exxperience.

No need to use both tuners.  If you use the external, just bypass internal.
Just because it will tune doesn't mean it will get out, might and might not.
Remember, a dummy load has a 1 to 1 swr, but don't radiate well at all.  TW1
would make it easy to tune the tuner.
