What you wrote about frequency reminds me about when we came down to Malta from California.  My dad brought some
electric clocks with us and we had a step up transformer to bring the voltage from 110 to 220.  I don't think my dad knew
that the difference in frequency from 60 to 50Hz would mess up the clocks because they would never be right the time
was always off.
