I didn't know how much time I could put in. We had an NFB chapter picnic.
Then I had to fix up the braille version of the church bulletin for Judy and
me, and finish proofreading the state NFB newsletter, of which Judy is
editor.

So at about 9:15 PM I came on 20 meters and pointed the beam west. With a
couple of excursions to 75 and 40 meters, I mostly ran stations on 20. 227
QSOs in just over 2 hours, including Dan, KB6UNC. It was a blast. Some of
the signals were quite weak; our 20-meter net provides practice for this.
40 meters is too crowded for my tastes, and the 40 dipole is the poorest of
my antennas except for 160 meters. I'm glad we could participate, anyway.

Albert:

Well, my NAQP outing was a disappointment here too.

Here in Central Lower Michigan, 10 and 15 were completely dead. 20 was
open, but in very poor shape, at least for most of the afternoon. 40 was
better, and got better as the night progressed, but by about 10 p.m., I kind
of ran out of gas and called it quits.

Made a total of 130 contacts.

Did manage to work Steve (KW3A) on 40 meters.

I have had similar experiences with the summer contest before, and find that
things are much better for the winter contests in January, so that is
something to look forward to for sure.
