Zach,

It's a sad commentary on our hobby, but just like society, ham radio is a 
mixture of the good, the bad, and the ugly.  Whenever I hear people like 
that on the air (and unfortunately there are some on every band), I have to 
remind myself that as loud and obnoxious as they are, they're not the 
majority.  I also have to remember to use what they used to call "the big 
switch."  In case you haven't heard that term, it's the one that turns 
everything on or off.
