Hi, all.

For those who use the N3FJP software, here’s the latest e-mail I’ve gotten from Scott regarding my port locking issue.

I have to say that I’m not very satisfied with his response, and am still not sure he totally understands the issue and why it is a problem for keyboard users like us.

I’m interested in the thoughts of others.

See e-mail history for a summary of the problem.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your follow up. Again, you'll either have to select the proper port or select None from the rig list. Aside from the remedy I already wrote to you previously, I don't have anything more to suggest.

Scott:

I’m re-sending this from the other day, in case you missed it somehow.

Still having my port issue here, and seem unable to correct the situation via usual keyboard procedures and without sighted assistance.

See below.

Scott:

I understand what you are saying here, but my issue is that if I do accidentally choose a port that already is being used for another function, I can’t seem to get out of the error message, no matter what I do.

In other words, closing and then re-opening your software doesn’t seem to help. Neither does shutting down and re-booting the computer, or doing an “end task” after control-alt-delete.

The thing that is especially troublesome is that I can’t seem to use the keyboard to do anything. In other words, the computer seems to completely freeze.

Once again, if you have any more thoughts, let me know.
