Actually a price of $600 doesn't seem excessive to me.  If you consider what 
you'd spend just selling a used TS-590S that worked, and then buying a new 
sg, it would probably be around a $600 difference.  Given this is a 
non-working rig, $600 sounds reasonable.

That sounds like to much.  How long have you had this radio?  If you
can, I'd dispute the charge with your credit card company and go
shopping for a gs elsewhere.  BTW, there are no differences in controls
on the front pannel, a few menu changes.  I haven't heard anything about
transmit audio either, a little better receiver performance.
