Richard,

No problem.  Since there are only a few radios that would need the 
jumper removed, the great likelihood is that it is  in place.  A full 
reset on a used unit is probably a good idea.   Also some of the other 
tests,  Maybe hold off on the relay   test unless you suspect something 
isn't right.   You may need a pair of eyes for the tests, I'm not sure. 
   I probably wouldn't mess around with the meter calibration, unless 
you had reason to believe  something was messed up and  a knowledgeable 
ham friend would be a help here.

About the only thing you really "have" to do is to set the interface 
menu to see the Kenwood.  The menus wrap around, so it's easy to get 
lost in them.   A pair of non ham eyes would be a big help.


About a year ago, for some reason that still eludes me, I reset my tuner 
and had to  reset the interface menu myself.   Some trial and error, but 
I got it figured out and working again.
