Another thing I have occasionally wondered out loud on the list about is 
whether my 15-year-old Astron RS35 power supply might be in need of 
replacement at some point.

I have another 20-amp Kenwood supply here that I might just put in the 
circuit for a while to see if anything behaves differently.
