Greetings,
Regarding D-Star, the ID-51A also has quite a bit of speech output,
including frequency, mode, and callsign of stations keying up or connecting
to reflectors.

Cheers,
Barry VK6SP.

I didn't read the PDF yet, but why do you say it might be good for us? Did
they build in speech output?
I played with a friends DMR radio the other day, I think it was a standard,
and it had both onboard synthisised voice output, as well as the ability to
record audio tags for anything on the radio including menus etc...the audio
tags are recorded in the programming software which is apparently
accessible...so you can customize the entire radio with audio tags.
If Connect systems did build in speech output it would be very
cool...although if they did, I'm quite posative they would have over looked
any dynamic display info such as ID numbers and text messages etc...as well
as things like packet percentages etc.
And on the DStar side, probably no call sign info displayed when a user is
transmitting.
The IC7100 actually does read quite a bit of the DStar info such as when a
station connects to the reflector or repeater that you are monitoring...of
course the touch screen makes that particular radio pretty much unusable by
a VIP.
