The central library of the public system to which my library is attached is
mulling over a question. They are wondering if any library has seen, or has
researched, a connection between providing free email access in a branch,
and a corresponding decrease in need for tty access in that branch. Another
way of asking their question is...if they make sure that each branch is
equipped with a public access terminal, and can handle incoming email
reference questions, does that branch also need a tty?
I have my own response to this as a deaf librarian...but right now I'm not
looking for opinions, just trying to find out if any correlation between
these two things has been established.
Please send replies to [log in to unmask] I will be glad to summarize whatever
responses I get and post them to the list.
        Thank you!
