The melissa virus that is causing such a stir is a non-issue for
WPS.  Although this is a standard Word virus, and can be forwarded
to others, it WILL NOT SPREAD through WPS like it has been
reported to spread on the Internet.  The reason is the virus uses
the address book from Outlook to spread itself.  Outlook is not
supported at WPS, and should not be in available on any desktops.
We use Memo for Windows for our address book.

This virus will attach itself to new e-mails and spread through
normal means.  We are waiting for Norton to give us a fix so our
virus detection software can detect this virus.  This should
happen in the next few days.

So, this virus will not affect WPS the way it has the Internet
community, but it will try to get in.  If you open an e-mail that
has the following text:

"Here is that document you asked for -- don't show anyone else
;-)"

DO NOT open the attachment in Word.  Instead, please contact the
help desk at 3449.
