This new article by Kagarlitsky, published in THE MOSCOW TIMES, hits a
new low for the wing of Social Democracy, that looks for further defeat
of Russia by Western Imperialism. Kagarlitsky is unable to control
his lust for a new defeat for Russia, from the consortium of
imperialist powers that have already caused so much misery for the ex-
Soviet Bloc. He hopes that a defeat will >>trigger new upheavals
within Russia itself<<.

Totally lacking, is any explanation of why that would be a progressive
result. How a defeat of Russian national interests, from the
Imperialist countries, would be of benefit for anybody, is not
explained. Instead, we are treated to a gleeful summation of why
defeat supposedly has to happen.

The amazing quality of the analysis, is in how an article analyzing the
war in Chechnya, can be written without once mentioning oil, The United
States, or anything else, other than Russia and Chechnya. The rest
of the world seems to sink into the Bermuda Triangle, as far as
Kagarlitsky is concerned. Nothing else matters to Kagarlitsky.
Just the defeat of the Russian government. Anyone this myoptic, needs
to rush to an optometrist, as rapidly as possible.

But then again, for liberals that believe that the US is a relatively
benign force compared to Hussein, Indonesia, Milosevic, or the evil
Greater Russian chauvinists, this article wll be your cup of tea.

Sincerely........................Tony Abdo
