The June '03 copy of Prevention has a letter from a reader asking about
labels and milk products. It is interesting that the Prevention staff reply
lists other products that may indicate the presence of milk: high-protein
flour, lactic-acid starter culture, lactose and some others. Check out page
26 of Prevention.
I have mentioned lactic-acid starter culture in the past and some have
replied that it is dairy-free. Has anyone since or had problems with
high-protein flour? I have never noticed it on labels, but then was not
looking for it.
The magazine also refers to a "How to read a label" card that is available
from FAAN that sounds interesting.
Thanks,
Cindy and Isabel in Michigan
