Just to let you all know, that my trip to Germany, thanks to some very useful
information provided from listmates, and very helpful "natives", was great!
I even had some fairly good food on each overseas flight. I flew United
partnered with Lufthansa, and had made arrangements through my travel
agent for a GF meal. Much to my surprise, the meal was OK. It was a plain
chicken breast with some rice, along with a salad and dressing on the side.
During the return trip, I had a piece of baked fish with vegetables and another
salad. Each meal was labeled GF, but be careful. There was piece of some
type of bread, that was clearly including wheat flour. That was eliminated, but
altogether, not bad.

There was a note from United, stating that they would with some council on
cuisine, but they obviously don't understand Celiac. I am going to try and
contact United and see what happens.

As far as Germany, every restaurant was very helpful. But there is no
substitute for a person who fluently speaks the language. Also, make sure you
have a German copy of the Celiac card. Missing all of the great beers was
tough, but I had some great meals.

Thanks again for all of the tips!
