This is definately a 'may contain dairy' ingredient.  I have checked with some
manufacturers and found that in some breads it is not dairy.

I was not trying to imply from my post that Subway was a safe place to eat
for the dairy allergic ... just that ingredient listings were readily available and
whey was not listed in the breads.

Some of their other meats don't contain milk products.  I ate there myself
when I was nursing my dairy allergic son after reading ingredients... but in
that case cross-contamination was not as big an issue.
