Eggs can be dried very easily as well. Seperate the yolk (discarding the
white) and returned the yolk to half of the eggshell. In a dry or windy
area (like in front of a fan) the yolk will dry right in the shell. This
improves its flavor when eaten raw ("cooks" it kinda) which is how I ate
them.

I suspect the problem for paleo folks of prehitory was obtaining enough
eggs to worry about preserving them, though turtle eggs in season might
have been plentiful in isolated areas.
