    Flavors, a very good catering and carry-out store on 18th Street
here in Manhattan, has a truly superior buffet with delicious salads
and hot dishes for lunch, many of which are GF. I highly recommend it
for the quality and freshness of its prepared foods.

    The manager is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about gluten.
He is always around to answer any questions about gluten in foods and
about catering GF menus.
    The buffet is $7.99 a pound, except on Friday afternoon, when at 3
o'clock punctually a half price sale is declared on everything except
beverages. Amateurs get there at 3 p.m. and find very little of the
really good stuff. We true professionals, on the other hand, know
enough to get there at 2:30 (or earlier) , fill up our containers and
baskets, hang about for the next 20 minutes making light conversation,
and then surge towards the register when the shout goes up, "The sale
is now on!"
    I checked with the manager today about their Xmas day menu. All
orders must be placed no later than 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec.23. All
pickups are on Thursday, Dec 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    The following Xmas menu items are GF, prices in dollars:

- Fennel Scented Gravlax, 20.00 per pound
- Herb Remoulade, 4.50 per pint
- Maple Glazed Free-Range Turkeys (unstuffed)
       available over-ready (raw) or fully cooked.
       raw, 10-12 lbs          50.00 per turkey
       fully cooked, 10-12 lbs 60.00 per turkey
       raw, 18-20 lbs          85.00 per turkey
       fully cooked, 18-20 lbs 100.00 per turkey

- Herb Marinated Filet of Beef, each filet serves 2 people, 25.00 each
- Orange Honey Glazed Ham, 12.00 per pound
- Tart and Spicy Pear & Cranberry Preserve, 8.00 per pound
- Grilled Asparagus with Citrus Caesar Dip, 10.00 per pound
- Roasted Vegetables (Ratatouille), 8.50 per pound
- Roasted Baby Beets with Orange Vinaigrette, 8.50 per pound
- Wild Rice Salad with Dried Cherries, Orange Zest and
     Scallions, 10.00 per pound
- Mesclun Mixed Greens, 4.50 per pound
- Aged Balsamic and Shallot Vinaigrette, 3.50 per 1/2 pint

         Desserts, unfortunately, are not gluten-free.
