Ronald:
Pull the PCB and check CAREFULLY reseat everthing, components and
cables.   Maybe something is loose by coincidence.  If the problem
remains, consider a new board.  How much is your time worth?  Maybe it's
upgrade time...

The board could have take a hit through ANY connection.  AC, even with
surge suppression could have taken the hit, or the phone line
